Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a polymer formed by the polymerization of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) in initiators such as peroxides and azo compounds or under the action of light and heat according to the mechanism of free radical polymerization. important category.

Polyvinyl chloride resins are mainly divided into general-purpose resins and paste resins according to their uses: general-purpose resins (G resins) are resins that are mixed with normal amounts of plasticizers or additives to form dry or wet powders for processing; paste resins (P Resin) is usually formulated with a plasticizer to form a paste resin for use; there is also a PVC blend resin, which is a PVC resin that replaces part of the paste resin by blending when formulating a PVC plastisol.

Main classification of PVC resin

The main production methods of PVC resin include suspension method, bulk method, emulsion method, solution method and micro-suspension polymerization method. From a global perspective, the suspension method is the main production method of PVC general-purpose resin, while the production methods of PVC paste resin are emulsion method and micro-suspension polymerization method. Due to different production processes, the production capacity of the two resins cannot be converted into each other.

2. Industrial chain of PVC industry

The PVC production process is mainly “calcium carbide method” and “ethylene method”, and its raw materials are coal and crude oil respectively. Most countries in the world use the oil and gas route. Because China is poor in oil and rich in coal, my country’s PVC production process is mainly based on calcium carbide method.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the national raw coal output will reach 4.13 billion tons in 2021, an increase of 228 million tons compared with 2020.

The raw material for the production of PVC by the ethylene method is crude oil. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, my country will produce 198.98 million tons of crude oil in 2021, an increase of 4.06 million tons compared with 2020. Among them, 16.47 million tons of crude oil were produced in December, a year-on-year increase of 1.7%.
